RESERVATION RULES

RULES: 18 SEPTEMBER 2012

Please report any incidence or disobedience of the following rules to the Manager, who will be happy to assist and is empowered to exercise the necessary controls. Should any of the following rules be violated the Manager my confiscate the keys of the offender's quad bike/vehicle/jet ski and/or impound the same until the departure date:

General Rules 3, 4, 11, 12, 13,17,28 or Beach rules 1.

 

BOOKING RULES & FEES

All visitors to the Island need to provide evidence of their bookings on the standard booking form provided, which is only valid once the official reservation number has been inserted by the  bookings office.

 

GENERAL RULES

We cherish the peace, harmony and beauty of the natural environment in and around the Island, please assist us to keep it that way and contribute by:

  1.  Not littering

  2.  Respect local residents

  3.  Keep noise levels to a minimum with any and all types of vehicles, quad bikes, radio, TV or party

  4.  Conserving the natural plans and bush

  5.  G5 Not camping round houses

  6.  Use only local employees, private employees are only allowed by prior appointment and arrangement.

  7.  Adhere to Mozambican conservation rules and regulations

  8.  The Island tap water is unsafe for drinking purposes. Please provide your own drinking water and conserve tap water , it is a scarce resource: Avoid the use  of hosepipes for any purpose whatsoever, use buckets instead.

  9.  Each Chalet has full inventory list posted inside it. Please report any broken or missing items on your arrival and departure.'

  10.  Rinse sand off under the outside shower and do not flush plastic, sanitary towels, newspapers, food etc. down the toilets or wash basin outlets as this will  block the sensitive sewerage system.

  11.  The maximum speed limit within the Private Island is 15km per hour

  12.  Quad bikes will only be permitted on the Island on condition that these are not used on the beach, that the Island not be used as a playground and they do  not become a nuisance to other guests.

  13.  Jet ski's which are used for fishing purposes, are permitted to launch at the Island, on condition that they do not operate in the Bay area, except for  launching and beaching.

REFUSE

  1.  A two bag refuse system is in use. One for bio-degradable refuse and one for tins, bottles and plastic bags etc.

FIRE HAZARD RULES

Our Chalet's have thatched roofs and are therefore particularly vulnerable to damage by fire. Please avoid the following:

 

  1. Any form of open flame type appliances within Chalet's such as freezers, candles and fires of any type

  2. In case of a fire immediately use the fire extinguishers provided within the Chalet's and quickly call for help - time is of the essence as thatch burns very quickly

  3. Report all gas leakages on gas stoves or gas geysers immediately

  4. Avoid open fires in or around houses, use provided barbeques instead and keep these well clear of Chalet's and wooden decks

     

    ELECTRICAL RULES

  5. The electrical supply at the Island is designed to take the following maximum load per Casa: 20 x 12W light bulbs and 2 x deep freezers. Please use it sparingly and avoid the use of the following appliances, which are particularly heavy on the system: Kettles, hair dryers, irons, tumble dryers, washing machines, air conditioners etc.

  6. The use of private generators is permitted on condition that these are plugged into the external switch boxes (provided with turnover type switches) and these switches are only turned to the "Generator "position once the generator has reached normal operating speed.

  7. Turn the switch Off position for two full minutes before switching it back to the Eskom position.

  8. We strongly support the conservation of fish populations and reefs for future generations to also enjoy. As such we promote "Catch and release" for fishermen and "Camera shots "for spear fishermen instead of spear fishing for trophies. Please support our cause

  9. Mozambican regulations determine the following:

  10. No vehicles or quad bikes are allowed onto the beach without a valid beach permit. Those with valid beach permits issued by the Mozambican government are only permitted to drive between the high tide and low tide marks.

  11. All boats must display a current and valid seaworthy certificate

  12. No boat or jet ski may be launched without a launching permit

  13. Skippers must be in possession of a valid Skippers licence suitable for beach launching

  14. All boats are to be stored on the beach at a designated site at the owner's risk. Security will however be provided for boats as part of the levies being paid.

  15. All fishermen and spear fishermen are to be in possession of valid Mozambican fishing and spear fishing licenses.

  16. Attention is drawn to the allowable size and bag limits per species of fish (refer to the Manager for a complete list)

  17. Boats are to keep a safe distance of 300 metres from all whales

  18. Unlicensed sale of fish, corals, shells etc. is strictly forbidden

  19. Littering on the beach or at sea is strictly forbidden

  20. Nature conservation regulations to this specific area are to be adhered to at all times (refer to the Manager for a complete list)

  21. No spear fishing or taking of crayfish by the use of Scuba equipment

  22. No interference is allowed with breeding sharks or turtles

  23. No fishing or spear fishing is allowed within 250 meters of a marine reserve

  24. Spear fishing is forbidden within 50 metres of bathers or swimmers

  25. BEACH, BOATING AND FISHING RULES: MOZAMBICAN REGULATIONS

  26. BUILDING OF NEW PROPERTY/HOUSE/DWELLING

  27. No new building may be erected on a stand where levy contributions are in arrears

  28. The location of the new dwelling on the stand has to be confirmed and clearly marked with pegs indicating the total floor plan inclusive of deck areas

  29. Any new development has to be approved by adjoining neighbours and this approval has to be in writing.

  30. A building plan needs to be drawn up in accordance with the local building requirements and submitted to the committee together with the approval of the affected neighbours

  31. HOUSE WORKERS

  32. All house workers allocated to homes at the Island are employees of the Limitada the Employer and shall receive instruction with regard their employment only from the management employed by the Employer

  33.  During the visit by a house owner /member or a visitor of the owner, the house worker of the house may receive instruction pertaining to cleaning and other tasks from the owner and management of the resort will relieve the worker from all other tasks to be performed at the resort

  34. All house workers will clean and air the houses allocated to them until 09H00 when the homes are not occupied, thereafter the Management will allocate other tasks and duties for them to perform relating a duty roster developed by Management.

  35.  Should home owners wish that the house workers perform specific duties to their homes when not at the resort, these requests have to be channeled through Management and Owners may not contact and instruct the house worker direct to perform duties other than their daily routine cleaning schedule.

  36.  Overtime payment has to be discussed with the Management and Owners may not instruct the house workers to work longer hours than the hours of work as controlled by Mozambican Labour legislation.

  37. CHECK IN AND DEPARTURES

  38. All visitors to the Island are requested to contact Management either by phone or SMS at least two hours prior to their arrival – number on reservation confirmation form, to confirm the estimate time of arrival.

  39. Management should also receive notification of any late arrivals after 18H00 either by phone or SMS

  40. Home owners and visitors should check-in at the Management office at least one hour after their arrival and late arrivals should confirm their arrival by checking in before 09H00 of the following day

  41. All visitors and home owners should confirm their departure with management and when applicable hand in house keys with their departure.

  42. All house questionnaires should be completed with regard maintenance issues and if possible all problems that needs repair and maintenance should be discussed with Management prior to departure.

     

  43. The appointed contractor needs to be legal in terms of the Mozambique Government `s Requirements – be in possession of the necessary permits and licenses

  44. The contractor needs to discuss with the Resort Manager and obtain the necessary approval on all aspects with regard the new building – clearing, services, staff accommodation, dumping
